New club night for transgender Christchurch

Miss Hollywood - Christchurch drag personality and owner of Diva's Boutique - will launch a club night in the New Year especially for transgender people, cross-dressers, their friends and admirers.

"For so long, cross-dressers and trannies have been coming up to me saying how much they would love to have their own 'tranny bar' here in Christchurch," says Miss Hollywood.

Called Lipstick, it will be the only regular event of its kind currently available in New Zealand catering to the transgendered community.

"Lipstick will be a great new opportunity for trannies, cross-dressers and their friends to meet up weekly for a few drinks and enjoy a fabulous social night out," explains Miss Hollywood. "Similar tranny nights have all been very popular overseas in Europe and Australia."

Miss Hollywood will be hosting the night along with special guests, and there will be drag shows and entertainment each week with a late bar and snack menu provided.

"Changing facilities will also be available, so you can get frocked-up when you arrive.

 

"For those guys out there who want to meet a tranny or cross-dresser, then this will definitely be the place for you to be."

Miss Hollywood says the feedback she has had so far about the plans for the new club night has been "simply amazing".

"Apparently there are a lot of people travelling from out of town to be there for the opening night."

Lipstick will be held at Heavens Above, 170 Tuam Street, Christchurch each Wednesday night from 8pm, with the opening night on 23 January 2008. A door charge will apply - $10 for guests or $8 for members - with free membership available offering a variety of discounts. "Come along and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine or beer on arrival," says Miss Hollywood.
